BFSFA Representative side set to return. After a five year absence the BFSFA representative side will re-emerge in October to play a two legged match against our friends BFSFA Representative side set to return. and rivals from the Preston Sunday league.  Interested ?  Think you're good enough ? BFSFA Representative side set to return.

Since winning the Lancashire Inter League Tropy five seasons ago there has been no BFSFA Representative side matches so it's about time we got it up and running again.

Around the end of October we will be playing the Preston Sunday League in a two legged challenge match.  One game will hopefully be at Wren Rovers FC probably around the end of October and the other away in Preston.

Quilligans FC manager Mark Spedding, who was in charge of the successful team five years ago will again be manager.  He will be announcing the rest of his management team shortly.  His team will be looking at the form of players over the next couple of months for selection to the squad.

BFSFA Representative side set to return.

The criteria for selection is that they must be regular Sunday players, be available on midweek nights, (the games are planned for Thursday's) and a Wednesday night training session will be planned.

If you're an interested player or a manager/secretary who thinks one of your players is worthy of inclusion then E-Mail Mark Spedding via the Quilligans website or E-mail me at
sportspy22@aol.com and I'll gladly pass it on.  Alternatively who can leave a message on the fyldesport.com message board.

Naturally it will be difficult for players to get in to the squad from outside of the Premier Division but this does not discount them entirely.  Fyldesport.com will be covering the match both home and away.   Let me know what you think the squad should be and I'll publish a selection (Anonymously if preferred)

Sportspy Reports - Sunday August 6th 2006.

Sunday football on the Fylde Coast is back with eighty-one teams bursting with pre-season anticipation.  Out on Moor Park with the new camera I made a shameless effort to recruit more visitors to fyldesport.com by checking out two of the twelve new sides that have joined the BFSFA this season.

Uncle Tom's Cabin FC were hosting Spindles FC in a Division 3B league fixture.  Fortunately, we've had a bit of rain this past week which is a good job as most pitches were in dire need of a soaking.  Pitch 3 at Moor Park looked in decent condition as today's referee John Hornsby got the 2006/07 season underway just after 11am in hot and humid conditions.

Both teams had a good start to the game with the decent surface providing a basis for some good passing movements.  On sixteen minutes Tom's had a great chance to take the lead but the striker slotted wide.

At half time Spindles manager Adam Pretty substituted himself for Anthony Moss (Ex Tec and Elec).  The young striker had an immediate impact on the match as his surging run took him past Phillips but the keeper uprooted him and referee Hornsby had no hesitation in awarding a penalty.  The bloke in the background has lost something (I hope).

At half time with the score at 2-1 Tom's were still in the game but on 52 minutes they were 4-1 down and looked a beaten team.  They were wilting in the heat and many players had their heads down.  No mercy from Spindles as on the hour Danny Crumblehulme broke through from the half way line to slot it past Phillips and into the net off the far post.  1-5.

Sportspy Reports - Sunday August 6th 2006.

In summary this was a great opening day performance from new side Spindles FC and manager Adam Pretty will be a happy man tonight.  They were especially good going forward and Ant Moss and Danny Heathcote looked a dangerous pairing who will score many more goals between them this season.

As for Tom's this was a rude awakening to Sunday Morning football.  They played fairly well in the first half and were unlucky not to take the lead.  In the end their opponents were just too fit for them as they completely dominated the second period.  Still, it's early days and there's a long way to go.  Good luck to both sides for the rest of the season.

FC Reebok

FC ReebokOur call to new new clubs for background information has provoked a very interesting response from FC Reebok who are likely to field an ex Scottish International/Rangers player for a number of games in Division 3A this season.

FC Reebok

FC Reebok (Abbreviated sometimes to FC Rbk) was officially formed as an 11 A side team last season where we played only a hand full of games to gauge our ability to step up from a 5 Aside team in Preston before joining the Blackpool Sunday league for this season.

A club that was formed by and funded by the sportswear giants based in Lancaster & Bolton for its employees and associates it is intended that the club has a warm family atmosphere hence our decision to play our football at the YMCA in Lytham (near where most of our players live) and the wives and children can come down and support.

As well as a bit of fun there is a serious side to the team using their younger more agile players as a test bed for boots and equipment before bringing to market the full product stories to be supported by such players as Thierry Henry, Andrei Shevcenko, Ryan Giggs and Ike Casillas to name but a few.

A mixture of youth and experience throughout the squad has stood us in good stead during our preseason program. With two draws against Progress Properties (Last seasons runaway division 3b winners) and a further draw against Mythop Leisure (highly fancied favourites of division 3a) has given us something to build on moving into our first season. Additional preseasons at Anfield, The Reebok Stadium and the City of Manchester gave our younger players the opportunity to experience the big stage where they equipped themselves well against some top opposition.

Club Secretary: Mark Kelly
Managers: Jonathan Frost/Peter Sutton

General Club Manager: Derek Parlane (Nickname: the Ledge)
Previous Clubs; Rangers, Leeds, Man City. 12 Caps for Scotland.

FC Reebok

Although not a week in week out player, knees permitting Derek will be turning out when the sun is shining and we are playing at home as he doesn't travel well. Everyone is anticipating the opportunity of the 'Ledge' playing alongside his son 'little Ledge' for the first time ever and hope that his son can replicate the kind of form in the cup games that his dad did in the European Cup during the 70's.

The 40th Gledhill Cup - Round 2.

The league have informed Fyldesport that Fleetwood Arms FC (Last season playing as Kings) will not be participating in the 2006/07 BFSFA.  This has clearly thrown the August fixtures for Division 1 into confusion.  As a result The Fleetwood Arms fixtures against the Philharmonic on the 6th and St Annes Ex Service on the 9th are now off.

It doesn't pay to look too far ahead but the Second Round of the 40th Gledhill Cup may throw some very tasty ties.  Highlights include Thornton YMCA FC v Cahoots, St Annes Ex Service v Ansdell and Red Rose Catering v Highfield Social.  If AFC Dunes can overcome the Windmill in Round 1 they'll face the Dunes in one of the ties of the round.
