The second round of this season's Division 2 Cup took place this morning and at Commonedge Road we had a number of interesting ties. I say interesting because four of the matches had teams from Division 2A playing sides from Division 2B. Who would come out on top this morning ?
After a wet start they grey clouds rolled away to leave great conditions for Sunday football. Reasonably calm and and a little bit milder than in recent days. So after dragging myself away from the cricket the first stop was pitch five where 2A leaders Blackpool Rangers were at home to 2B side the Central Club who were sixth in the league at start of play but extremely confident after winning five on the bounce.
The 2B side went on to win the game 1-0 as their excellent run continued. Don't rule them out of a top three league finish.

It's all over as the Central Club progess through to the last eight. Blackpool Rangers maintain their reputation as a poor Cup side.
As do 2B leaders Progress Property Management FC. They were up against 2A side Talbot Sports & Social Club FC who are having an excellent season. After taking the lead with a brilliant goal Talbot were pegged back after Progress equalised in the second half but with extra time looming the Talbot grabbed a dramatic late winner to reach the last eight.

On Pitch 2 there was an excellent Cup tie between Little Fat Jacks FC (2A) and the Shovels FC (2B). It was very evenly matched for long periods. After 90 minutes the score was 1-1, the Shovels having levelled after Jack's had taken the lead. Deep into injury time and with it looking like going to a replay Little Fat Jacks grabbed a dramatic late winner. Jubilant scenes from the Jack's players whilst the Shovels were left reeling. At the end of the day Jordan Casey (Left) and pal Jordan Senior were left disappointed Shovel's fans as their team were knocked out of the Cup.
Finally for this week here are two photo's from the Old England v Marshall Court tie. Even stevens this one before the Old England finally triumphed in extra time with a 3-2 win.
