For the second day in succession it was the long trip to Fleetwood.  After yesterday's entertaining yet slightly fortunate 'Cod Army' win over Droylsden it was back to grassroots action on Broadwaters where three games were taking place in the spring sunshine.

Last week it was Lytham, this week it was opposite end of the Coast at Broadwaters looking in on three league games involving Fleetwood sides.  In Division 1 AFC additions were at home to the Shovels.  It was difficult conditions this morning with each of the three pitches being directly affected by the strong breeze.  Cold and bright with the temperature still nowhere near ten degrees.  In this game Additions had the advantage of the wind in the first half and despite being the better side they couldn't convert their chances and at half time it was 0-0.  In the second half Shovels went on to win a hard fought match 2-1 and returned to Marton with all three points.

Next door it was the battle of the Vets for the second week running.  Last week at Commonedge Road, Bloomfield Vets won 3-1 but this week Highbury Vets were looking for revenge in Division 1.  This game was also 0-0 at the break.  Highbury had begun the game with only ten men and had reached the break goalless despite having the advantage of the wind.  I feared for them at the interval but they started the second half very well and took the lead though a controversial penalty due to handball.  Shortly afterwards, Bloomfield levelled following another controversial hand ball in the build up.  They scored two more in quick succession and went on to win 4-1.
