Sportspy Reports – Sunday April 3rd 2011

Dreadful – apologies to fellow purists but the wider audience will be unaware of the original.

At Collins Park, Quilligans FC (Prem) had been drawn against Fleetwood Gym FC (1) in the semi final of the Prem & Division 1 Cup in a dress rehearsal of the forthcoming Gledhill Cup final.  It was Quilligan's day today as they cruised into the final with a 6-0 win.  Quilligans FC were in the blue.

In Division 4, home side DH Gas FC were at home to strong finishing Xceptional Kitchens FC (White).  A good game this one where the Gas held on to win 3-2 – a great win.

At the top of Division 4 the Stable Bar FC were looking to maintain their title challenge against the Cuban Allstars who were certainly making them work hard for it.  The Cuban's took the lead but in the end the Stable Bar came through to take all three points thanks to a hard fought 4-2 victory.

In Division 3 there was a rare sighting of Marshall Court Sandpiper FC at the Edge who were away bat Teamsport 90 FC who once again were away from their usual home of Boundary Park.  Marshall in the white were 2-0 down but playing great just before half time.  This one finished 5-3 to Marshall Court Sandpiper who showed some good spirit to fightback from what looked to be a hopeless position.

Finally, in the Premier & Division 1 Cup, Prem side Devonshire Arms FC were playing Division 1 side Christ the King FC (Luminous yellow).  The Devvy were rocked as the underdogs raced into a 3-0 lead.  The Devvy pulled it back to 3-2 but Christ the King went in at half time 4-2 up.  The Devvy struggled to make a break through in the second half but eventually took the match into extra time after pulling it back to 4-4.  In a bad tempered extra time the Premier Division outfit came out on top after winning 6-4.
