OK, some pictures of 'Presentation Night' are beginning to reach us. Please send yours for publication to sportspy22@aol.com.

The league's official presentation bash took place at the Layton Institute last night with numerous club message boards indicating that a good time was had by all who attended. Fyldesport did get an invite but it's the footie we're into.
Anyway, in previous seasons we've usually got hold of some famous photo's but as our usual source was also absent from last night's proceedings we're relying on others to provide the photographic evidence. Here are the first two to come in. Hopefully, we'll get a lot more.

In years to come the youngsters from both Progress Property and Blackpool Rangers will look back on their Alliance debut seasons in 3B with fond memories as the race for the title went all the way. Typically, there was a bit of needle along the way but last night was nothing more than a backslapping 'lovefest' as the cyberwarriors kissed and made up. This shot was taken in the 'Walkabout' which I'm told is some kind of Bar in the central Blackpool area.
Those pictured include Cook and Woolcock from Progress and Rangers manager John Miles and one of the Brown clan. The photographer's focus clearly affected by alcohol.

Progress 'top player' Cook who's also done well for Wren Rovers FC this season makes his feelings clear in regard to Mr Miles attempt at obtaining his signature for 2006/07.

Can you beat those ? Thought so. E-Mail your celebratory pictures to sportspy22@aol.com.

Play-off's aside, yesterday's FA Cup Final was the perfect end to the English football season, a great atmosphere in the Shovels, what a match. The World Cup aside it's now time for the summer break but here's what's happening on Fyldesport over the next few months including news on the Compere Cup draw , 'Rumourmonger' and other items of interest.
“Now your stupid football's finished I want you in the house, off that computer and doing some jobs” says the Missus. Some hope ! It won't be too much longer until someone tells her that the World Cup is going to be on every day for over a month.
“Who will Blackpool be playing ?”, “What will Nancy be wearing ?”, “I hope that lovely Ryan Giggs does well for us” and countless other stupid questions/observations will undoubtedly follow so a regular escape to the Shovels next door looks to be the favourite option.
I can't wait for the World Cup to start and the Shovels is already in the mood after decorating the exterior with flags of all the competing nations. Our chances may have faded following the expected loss of Rooney but Gerrard's performance for Liverpool yesterday shows we're not just a one man team. Make him captain I say. Players like Lampard, the Coles and Terry are World Class and the keeper Robinson is a decent player. Taking Walcott's a good choice by Sven and if we get a good start who knows.
If you are lucky enough to be attending the Finals we fully expect your reports (with photos if you can). Reports can cover hotels, pubs/clubs, rival fans, houses of ill-repute, and even football matches.

Compere Cup 2006.
On to more domestic matters. To be honest I'm always ready for a break when it comes to this time of the year, especially after having not missed an Alliance Sunday/Wednesday out and about all season but there are plenty of mad fools out there with a different viewpoint. For those teams and players who can't go without their regular fix of eleven-a-side on grass there's the famous Compere Cup. Here on Fyldesport we monitor it rather than cover it in depth but we'll be bringing you regular updates over the Summer.
Here is the full draw for the group stages. This season it's been seeded with many of the top sides spread evenly throughout the groups. Current holders find themselves placed in a very testing group that also includes Blackpool Rangers, Inkmasters and the Subway ;

Hopefully, we'll soon be bringing you news on what pitches throughout the Fylde are available for Summer Football including details on locations, prices and how to book them. You'll notice that all the Group games have to be finished by July 1st.
Unsurprisingly we're already underway and last Thursday Skye FC opened the competition with a win over Blackpool Catholic Club FC in Group 5.
Please be aware that the Compere Cup is a non BFSFA competition. Any queries about the competition should be directed to Dennis Peters on 391055.

“Rumourmonger”
The 'Rumourmonger' feature was a very popular feature on Fyldesport last season so we intend to repeat it. However, the success of this feature very much depends on all of you. Instead of us going out looking for rumours please be pro-active and E-Mail them to us at sportspy22@aol.com and every few week's we'll complile them all together and publish them anonymously if appropriate.
The purpose of 'Rumourmonger' is to entertain and tittilate rather than to upset or unsettle any anybody so we have to be a little careful about what we put in it. If it does have a negative reaction then we'll pull the feature.
Here are a few examples of how you can help me with this feature ;
“We'll be back next season”, just an E-Mail to confirm your continued participation in the best Sunday League in the UK would be helpful.

The forecast was for sunshine by day and rain/thunderstorms by the evening but thankfully the forecasters were wrong and the weather was calm, warm and sunny late into the game with no need for floodlights. It's been a great week for hot weather on the Fylde all week so let's hope it lasts throughout the Cup Final weekend.

It looked as though Quilligans won the toss and elected to stay as they were so Poulton kicked off at exactly 7pm kicking towards the Kop. Poulton manager Alan Cocker started with a more attacking formation this year with Apaloo joining young Danny Morris up front. Across the middle were Fegan, Fulford, Sharrocks and Thompson. The centre halves were Chris Morris and Tom Porter, Stuart Armer at left back, Aaron Matthews at right back with Kevin Kennerley in goals.
Quilligans FC started as predicted with Andy Forsyth in goal. The three at the back were Dave Butler, Stuart Bracewell and Phil Thompson. The five across the middle from left to right were Ioannou, Palmer, Boal, Pearson and Conway. Starting up front were Lee Broadbent and Scott Sugden.
It was a scrappy opening to the game with both sides taking time to settle. Quills had the ball in the net after only four minutes but the referee had blown for an infringement by Broadbent a long time before Sugden put it away.

On seven minutes a Porter push on Broadbent resulted in a free kick taken by Ioannou. The kick to the far post resulted in a clash of heads between Butler and Armer but they were soon back on their feet again.

Minutes later another free kick by Ioannou was headed clear by Porter but only back to the feet of Ioannou. He floated it back dangerously into the box and Kennerley was glad to see a Quills header bounce on top of the bar and go safely out for a goal kick.
Another good interchange on the edge of the box between Broadbent and Palmer resulted in the latter firing in a shot that Kennerley did well to palm away. Two minutes later the referee missed a foul on Broadbent. He retaliated against Armer before Pearson came in and tangled with Porter. Tempers were soon cooled and that spat was the only bad feeling displayed throughout the entire game. Good refereeing in retrospect as it would have been easy to flash the cards.

On seventeen minutes Danny Morris was fouled as he took control of a long ball. After picking himself up Morris took the free kick and fired in a blistering low drive which just went wide of the left hand post. Two minutes later and Poulton's Adam Sharrocks was fouled a yard further out. This time Morris' free kick was well charged down by the Quilligans' wall.

A great tackle by Palmer allowed him to feed Broadbent who in turn passed to Conway. His cross was picked up by Palmer but good Poulton defending cleared it away. Another Poulton free kick, this time from the left was played in deep for Porter who's backward header found Fulford but once again good defending denied him.

After some hesitation the referee, with the help of assistant Max Cobb gave an indirect free-kick for a back pass. A little harsh on Palmer. With 27 minutes on the clock Fegan tapped it to Morris but his shot was deflected away for a corner. The Poulton corner came to nothing but with thirty minutes gone Poulton were having the better of the possession in the opposition half.

One of the highlights of the first half was the great battle going on between pacey Quilligans winger Lee Conway and Poulton's young left back Stuart Armer. Armer was chasing Conway up and down the touchline with each having equal success with either Conway getting crosses in or Armer making some well timed tackles.
On 34 minutes good work from Palmer on the left ended with him delivering a dangerous cross into the box but it eluded everybody and went harmlessly out for a Poulton throw.

Two minutes later and Quilligans took the lead. A Poulton throw into the box found Sugden. His pass to Conway resulted in a cross into the box which was cleared only as far as Palmer. He took one touch inside and smashed it past Kennerley into the the top right hand corner from twenty-five yards. A classic Gledhill Cup Final strike that was appreciated and admired by all who saw it. 1 – 0.

Poulton almost equalised straight away when the Quilligans' centre backs failed to deal with a long free kick into the box. Hesitation allowed Poulton to win a couple of headers and keeper Forsyth had to be alert to come out quickly in order to gather it.
The first surging run from Poulton's Dean Fulford came on 38 minutes. Left footed at pace he drew the defenders before playing in Sharrocks. His shot had to be well saved by Forsyth for a corner. More good work from Palmer saw him play a great pass into space for Conway. He made it to the byline, crossed it, Sugden couldn't reach it and Ioannou screaming in at the far post blasted it high over the bar. The game had come alive with an increase in pace and goalmouth action.

On 42 Pearson was left unmarked from a Butler throw but his header went over the bar. Broadbent then broke clear down the left from a free kick. A bit of trickery resulted in a Conway near post corner that was headed over the bar.

Half time score : Quilligans FC 1 – 0 Poulton SFC
As is usual, the half time interval saw a penalty competition featuring players from the Divisional winners of the Fair Play awards. Dave Wilcox represented St Annes Ex Service (Prem), Tom Harrison for Clifton Rangers (1), Jamie Fullalove for the Old England (2A), James Morris for the Brun Grove (2B), Paul Latham for MA2 FC (3A) and Shaun Meehan for the Windmill (3B)
