Results round up - Sunday August 23rd 2009.You may have noticed that the Gazette has an interesting new business model.  It fails to replace its local football reporter on retirement and instead asks the respective clubs and leagues to produce their own reports for no payment whatsoever.  Meanwhile it continues to sell the papers including  said content whilst retaining all the profits – Nice work if you can get it.  Anyway, here is the BFSFA's charitable contribution to the failing organ thanks to committee man Frank Kennedy. Please remember that this article is dependant on input from the clubs which last week was rather disappointing with only four clubs bothering to contribute – Talk to Frank !

In the Premier Division Blackpool Rangers and Quilligans drew 1-1 and lost ground on leaders Northern Care who maintained their 100% record by beating Hydronics 3-1 with goals from Brad Dugdale and Steve Gibson.

The 3 top teams in Division 2A FC Brun Grove FC Talbot and Great Eccleston all had good away wins. West Coast Tackle and Blackpool Owls kept in touch with the leaders by drawing 2-2. Ben Halliwell scored a 25 yard screamer for the home side.  The teams thank referee`s secretary Dave Connor for leaving his sick bed to officiate the game.

Leaders Progress Sports and Social were top scorers in Division 2B with a 9-1 victory against Marshall Court with Curt Smith scoring a hat trick and Rick Fisher and Scott Buchanan getting 2 goals each. Old England collected their first points with a fine 7-1 win against Metrostars. Kyle Drabble with 3 and veteran striker Jamie Fullalove with 2 goals leading the rout. Old England keeper Michael Openshaw saved his blushes by saving the penalty which he had conceded. Metrostars Phil Palfrey scored the goal of the game.

Division3A leaders Falcon were surprisingly beaten 5-3 by Trades and Social for whom Tony Chapman netted 3 times. Ansdell go top keeping their 100% record with a 5-3 away win against St Annes Ex-Service. Lane Ends won their first game of the season 9-1 against bottom side Gennars with David Bamber scoring 3 times and Dean Smithen and Steven McCabe twice.

Score Football lived up to their name in Division 3B  by defeating a spirited Uncle Toms Cabin 9-0 with hat trick man Adam Fletcher the only player to score more than once bringing his total to 10 goals in 3 games. FC Kingsfield enjoyed a 4th consecutive win 7-1 against bottom side Newton Castilla with Martin Bowland netting 4. Frenchmans Cove have won their 3 games with the latest being a 5-3 win against FC Edge.

BFSFA fines set to double if not paid on time.

BFSFA fines set to double if not paid on time.
There's no stopping the rampant enthusiasm of the new discipline secretary.  He's asked us to re-enforce his message from recent meetings that clubs which do not pay their largely self inflicted BFSFA discipline fines within the specified time limits will see these fines doubled.  Should they then not pay the fine that has been doubled the BFSFA will have no alternative other than to stop teams from playing until all debts are paid to the league. In addition clubs owing fines may be published on fyldesport.com in order that all of those associated with the club are made aware of the position.  Don't let your weekly subs end up in the hands of the BFSFA for needless fines.  If your club secretary isn't up to the job then get a new one.

Please keep off Cottam Hall.

Please keep off Cottam Hall. Our friends at Poulton Youth FC have made a plea to all of our teams to keep off Cottam Hall for the foreseeable future whilst the pitches are being repaired.  As Wyre Borough council have pleaded poverty the junior football club have had to fund the improvements themselves (

Disciplinary notes (1)

Disciplinary notes (1)Newly installed BFSFA discipline secretary Glenn (No mercy) Rogerson has already been called upon to dish out some justice.  On 16/08/09 SPS FC were found to have inadvertently fielded an ineligible player in Round 1 of the Gledhill trophy and have consequently been withdrawn from the next round.  Although SPS FC were left in the dark the BFSFA were forced to take action because the player in question was found to have already signed on for TWO other teams.  As well as being the reason for SPS FC being turfed out of the competition after their first ever Gledhill Cup win the player has also had his registration withdrawn until January 2010.  King Edward VII FC will now progress to the 2nd round.  Dennis (391055) reminds teams that he's available to verify any suspect player registration at any reasonable hour (07:30 onwards on a Sunday).

Fleetwood Town 3-1 AFC TelfordBlue Square NorthSaturday 15th August 2009Att 1309By Derick ThomasBoth teams entered today with four points following an away win and home draw apiece in the Blue Square North. Micky Mellon opted to make just one change to the side who had to settle for a home draw against Hyde United on Tuesday.  In came Jamie Mullan for Chris Williams, Williams taking Lee Dodgson's place as the only other change to the mid-week bench.AFC Telford took the early imitative, forcing Michael Taylor and Ashley Wooliscroft into home defensive action inside the first five minutes.  The visitors kept up the pressure through new signing Gareth Jelleyman when he forced a cross on 11 minutes, but the Telford front pair couldn

Talk To Frank – He needs your Sunday stories

Talk To Frank - He needs your Sunday storiesFollowing the much-mourned departure of our friend Mike Young from The Evening Gazette's fine body of sports journalistic excellence, our local paper have asked the BFSFA if they would mind providing a weekly written review of Sunday action.  Step forward new Committee member Frank Kennedy, who has kindly volunteered to provide the prose. BUT, he needs all our help, read on…

The last few years of sunday football coverage in our local newspaper have been disappointing. Time after time stories have been spun to cast a slur on our fine local sport. It seemed to me and others that rarely did a week go by without some dig or other. Seldom did the BFSFA receive any favourable reporting, usually it had to bear negativity and grubby scandal-hunting.

This lack of positive coverage was indeed one of the inspirations to set up fyldesport.com in the first place, to try and redress the balance. Well, with Mike Young now retired The Gazette have asked the League to provide a weekly report which they will print on Thursdays.

In conjunction with BFSFA Press Secretary Carole Cox, new Committee member Frank Kennedy has volunteered to write the report, but requires YOUR input. Tales of hat-trick heroes, debuts, special occasions, wonder goals and amazing results will help to promote your club, your players, your sponsors and the League in the correct light.

TALK TO FRANK on 01253 304602, 07890 672397, or email on frankkennedy256@btinternet.com.  Obviously Frank will also be sending his prose to fyldesport.com for you to enjoy online too!
