Sportspy Reports - February 19th 2006

On Sunday May 8th Highbury FC playing then as Fleetwood Town rounded off a memorable season by winning the final of the Premier Division Cup.  They beat the Golden Eagle 6-1 at Highbury Avenue to pull off a league and Premier Division Cup double. The holders set out to retain the trophy this morning at Boundary Park against McDonald Property.  Although almost impossible to have reached the same high levels as last season Highbury FC are having an indifferent first half to the campaign having lost six out of their fourteen league games.

However, they

Sportspy Reports - January 15th 2006

It now seems a long time ago since I watched Christ the King FC win last season's Division 3 Cup competition against Clifton Co-op at the ground of Blackpool Mechanics.  It was a lot warmer that day than it was out in St Annes this morning with the wind-chill factor making it uncomfortable for non players.

Up first were Skye FC who were taking on fellow Division 3B side Progress Property Management.  This morning Progress were six points clear at the top of 3B after having had twelve wins and three draws. Their only defeat of the season so far came against 2B leaders Christ the King in Round 2 of the Gledhill Cup.  Progess had already taken six points off Skye in the league with a 3-1 home win and a 4-3 away win in early December.  Skye were fifth in the table.  They're having a good season and have already bettered last season
