Nineteen teams face opening day ‘no play’ scenario.

July 13, 2009/in BFSFA 2009-10/by Chris Giles

Despite the best efforts of the BFSFA committee in nannying its members there are, as of today, still nineteen clubs who have failed to register with the LFA. Teams are not covered to play any football until they do register (Even friendlies). If you have any outstanding fines to the LFA from last season you must also clear these before you can register. Any team requiring a form to register ring Grumpy on 391055 and arrange to collect one. Teams that do not fulfill the above criteria will not kick a ball until they do. Failing to fulfil a fixture due to the above will result in a win for the opposition, a three point deduction and a fine – Avoid a miserable start to the season and do it now.

When Saturday comes…………….

July 12, 2009/in BFSFA 2009-10/by Sportspy

As the new season rapidly approaches fyldesport.com takes a look at the Saturday football scene across the Fylde Coast. There's a lot more going on than many people think and if you're a fan of local grassroots football there's absolutely no excuse for having nothing to do on a Saturday afternoon.

When Saturday comes................

Even if you're a regular at Bloomfield Road you may find yourself at a loose end if the Tangerines are away at somewhere like Plymouth. Before the glooms sets in and you're facing the prospect of an afternoon with the Missus browsing soft furnishings in Textile World worry not as there are plenty of alternatives on offer that allow you to get out of the house to watch some local football action both along the Coast as well as some great venues within sixty minutes of the Tower. This article takes a look at our local sides, who are they? Where do they play? What Divisions are they in and how much does it cost?

Throughout the season fyldesport.com is going to trial a weekly round up of Saturday football action but its success will be largely dependant on the pro-active help of the clubs involved. If you're involved with any of the clubs in this article and you'd like to see your club featured in the weekly round-up then all you have to do is send us a couple of paragraphs about the day's game to sportspy22@aol.com hopefully by midnight Saturday. This can range from a full match report with a few photo's to a few brief lines including the result and scorers. I'll pull it all together and hope to have it published by Sunday PM. Fyldesport.com is a non-profit making site run as a hobby. Any sponsorship money is ploughed back into the running of the site so there's no hope of us making payments for articles or expenses. Also, if you'd like to add/amend/clarify/delete any aspect of this article just let me know.

Up the coast at Fleetwood the local side have enjoyed great success in recent seasons as they've progressed through the North West Counties Leagues and the Unibond Leagues and now find themselves in the 'Blue Square' Conference North Division just two promotions away from football league status. After a sticky start in the higher Division they improved greatly as the season progressed to finish in a highly creditable eighth place. You could say tha they're only about 130 places below Manchester United in the footballing pyramid.

The ambitious club has seen huge improvements both on and off the pitch and if you haven't been there recently give it a try. The facilities are excellent and under the new main stand there's one of the best sports' bars in the North West. Ex Blackpool FC midfielder Micky Mellon is now the man in charge and with another new stand being planned if they keep the current momentum going who knows what they can achieve. The famous Cod Army often exceeds four figures for home matches and they have a noisy and enthusiastic away support.

The club's excellent website can be found by clicking here. As they're in the Northern league away fans travel some long distances to such places as Workington, Gateshead and Solihull but still have a good local derby against Southport to look forward to. The Blue Square North website can be found by clicking here. The club have a well run commercial department selling a whole range of clothing. There's also a decent range of snacks on offer at matches and as I said the Sports Bar is perfect to watch the Saturday lunchtime football before the action starts. A full season ticket costs

Burscough FC v Blackpool FC – Saturday July 11th 2009.

July 11, 2009/in BFSFA 2009-10/by Sportspy

Blackpool FC travelled to Unibond Premier league side Burscough FC in the first of their pre-season friendlies. All of the first team had a good run out on a warm summer's afternoon.

Burscough FC v Blackpool FC - Saturday July 11th 2009.

New manager Ian Holloway promised to take a strong side to Burscough FC and he was true to his word. Each half saw a completely different side. In the first half Blackpool FC 'A' was made up entirely of first team regulars. They played very well in the first half with only three at the back for most of the opening 45 with Coid, Taylor-Fletcher, Clarke, Southern and Vaughan bossing midfield. Mitchley and Burgess were the strikers with Baptiste, Evatt and Crainey in front of Chubs. Two classy first half goals from an impressive Taylor-Fletcher highlighted Pool's dominance.

In the second period we saw a number of new faces for Blackpool 'B' FC along with Barker, Ormerod, Joe Martin and Nardiello. Joe Martin caught the eye as did Nardiello when he wasn't arguing with the ref. A good finish by Brett and a late own goal gave Blackpool FC a 4-0 win and a satisfactory start for Holloway. One of the best things about attending such local away friendlies is that you can really get close to the action.

July 11, 2009/in BFSFA 2009-10/by Sportspy

The new Sunday football season kicks off four weeks tomorrow. The first league secretaries' meeting will take place shortly. Peter Collins stresses the importance of attending in the following note;

Important first league meeting on the horizon.

The 1st meeting of the season takes place on Thursday 23 July. The Teams were informed at the AGM it would be classed as a Special Meeting with a vote to be taken on the merging of the Premier Division Cup and the 1st Division Cup competitions. (Fyldesport is strongly behind this proposition and strongly urges clubs to agree to it)

It will also be the meeting when the new teams will receive their handbooks and existing teams the necessary updated pages for their existing books. Result Sheet Pads and Substitute Cards will also be given out Fixtures will also be handed out.

Can I remind Clubs they will have to pay their Annual Insurance money of

Warning: contains mild horror and some scenes of limited instances of brief, non-gratuitous sexual innuendo. Feel free to send us similar pictures of your rabble carrying on abroad.

Anyone for the Premier Division?

June 10, 2009/in BFSFA 2009-10/by Sportspy

Message from Carole Cox. Firstly, a reminder to all clubs that tonight (Thursday) is the BFSFA AGM. (See 'BFSFA News' article for further information). Secondly, as of now we only have ten teams listed in the Prem for next season. It's possible that twelve new sides could be joining the BFSFA with only a handful having resigned folded over the summer. This means that clubs will have to move up to accommodate them all as I can't envisage the creation of another Division. With this in mind if you fancy a challenge in the Premier Division either call or E-Mail Carole on 764788/ carolandalan@tiscali.co.uk Additionally, if you're the manager of any other club and you fancy playing in a higher Division please contact Carole with your sensible suggestions. Do NOT call Carole asking 'what Division' are we in at this time as you're likely to be shouted at.
