Newton Arms FC end Sanuk FC's (Quilligans FC) seven year 'final appearance' run in the Gledhill Cup. It was December 2003 when I watched Quilligans FC last lose a Gledhill Cup tie prior to a final when they lost up at Broadwaters against eventual winners Old Vic FC. This morning they were deservedly beaten 2-1 by Kirkham prison side Newton Arms FC in this season's quarter final. Since then Quilligans FC went on to appear in seven straight finals winning six of them. Well done to Mick Hutchinson and his Newton team. In Division 1, Wrea Green FC moved into fifth after a 4-1 victory against C&G Electrical FC. In Division 2, the league's two top sides were both beaten. 21st Century Windows FC went second after beating leaders Blackpool Lane Ends FC 1-0 and the Boars Head FC lost 3-1 at home to improving CTK FC. Stable Bar go fourth after beating Hansom Cab FC 3-0. Xceptional Kitchens FC opened up an eleven point gap on their nearest rivals after they beat Bluespot Knee Clinic FC 4-0. Mere Park FC are going well after recording a win against Marton Athletic FC, 3-2 away from home. Well done to Victoria Hospital FC who picked up their first ever BFSFA point at the 15th attempt after coming back from 3-1 down to draw 3-3. Thatched FC went second after thumping Philharmonic FC 10-0 away from home.
Sanuk FC's (Quilligans FC) seven straight years of appearing in the Gledhill Cup Final are over following their 2-1 defeat to Newton Arms FC. In the above picture, prolific scorer Terry scored his second of the game after crashing his shot in off the underside of the crossbar (More pictures below).
