Results – Sunday, December 4th 2011

Into December and courtesy of the BFSFA committee, here are all of the provisional results from today's programme of icy cold Sunday Football action. Eleven games were lost to waterlogged pitches in the first major postponements of the season. The fixtures for next week are now on-line. If in doubt please contact Dennis Peters on 391055. The tables, fixtures and results have now been updated. (Also includes live video from a wet and windy Commonedge Road, Blackpool).

Gardeners Arms FC Divisional Cup hopes go down the pan as they were knocked out by Bathroom Solutions FC 2-1.  It must have been a little boggy out in Wrea Green but the home side progressed after a 4-0 win against Village Steel FC.  FC Kingsfield reached the second round of the Division 2/3 Cup after beating AFC Wilo 7-1.  In the Division 4 Cup there were wins for Lane Ends Reserves FC and DH Gas FC.  Blackpool Catholic Club FC and Tower Lounge FC both kept pace with the leaders in Division 1 after both won comprehensively.  Good wins for both leaders Blackpool Lane Ends FC and Burn Naze FC as they stay first and third in Division 2.  In the big game of the day in Division 3, leaders Xceptional Kitchens FC beat second placed No 4 Celtic FC 3-1 to open up a healthy eight point lead.

It was extreme Sunday football out on Commonedge Road this morning as a combination of ice cold driving rain and a gusty wind made things very uncomfortable for players, officials and spectators.  However, there's no better cure for a hangover.  In the Bierkeller Division 4 Cup, bottom club Victoria Hospital FC were under new management after Danny Rossi answered the call to come in and try and turn things around. In the above video, the Hospital lads equalise from a well taken wind assisted free kick into the bottom corner.  Despite a 3-1 defeat this was certainly an improved performance.
