News from the Lancashire Sunday Trophy semi-final (March 2nd 2011)

Just back from Brocstedes Park, the ground of Ashton Athletic FC, south of Wigan.  In tonight's Lancashire Sunday Trophy sem-final, BFSFA side Poulton SFC played some fantastic passing football to beat Rochdale Sunday league Champions Copperpot FC 6-0.  4-0 up at the break through goals from the impressive Catlow (2), Sharrocks (A) and Morris (D) they scored a killer fifth through Whittaker early in the second half before Daz Hall got a well deserved goal through a rare header to make it six. In all fairness they absolutely bossed the match from start to finish.  Keeper Speight never got his knees dirty.  Fingers crossed they can now go all the way and be the first side from the BFSFA to win the Trophy since the 1993/94 season.  Sincere commiserations to Copperpot FC and congratulations to all at Poulton SFC who now go on to face Preston side Greenlands FC at the County Ground, Leyland on Thursday April 14th in the final.  Two pictures attached.
