Mortgage Shop Blackpool & Fylde Sunday Alliance Report 5 September 2010
Gledhill Cup second round games dominated the Mortgage Shop Blackpool & Fylde Sunday Alliance last weekend. Mythop Leisure from division 2 provided the only surprise result of the day by beating Premier strugglers Northern Care 4-1 with goals from Chris Hibbert Danny McKenzie Adam Scholes and Carl Windsor.
Premier teams enjoyed goal feasts against division 4 opponents with Blackpool Rangers inflicting the first defeat on leaders No.1 Club with Peter Floyd`s 7 goals leading their scorers in the 13-0 victory. FC Eden scored 11 against Clifton Arms with hat tricks from Ryan Bingham and Paul Roberts. Poulton SFC completed the goal bonanza by defeating CBFC Choice Furniture 9-0 with a treble from Lee Catlow.
A Ben Strawn hat trick gave Great Eccleston a 4-3 win in the all division 2 tie with AFC Additions. Shovels needed a last minute winner from Tony Oldham to overcome Layton Institute 3-2 with Peter Clarkson scoring their other goals. Blackpool Lane Ends fought hard against FC Loco before losing 2-1 with Joel Chappell and Ryan Grainger on target and Daniel Garth replying.
Fylde Coast Gates beat Northern Care Res. 4-2 with Zack McGuirk and Henry Wright both getting pairs. St. Annes held high flying Real Burlington 1-1 at half time before losing 8-1 with Jamie Nay grabbing a hat trick. Mere Park went 2 goals up in the first 15 minutes against Xceptional Kitchens through man of the match Jacob Peake but then went 3-2 down before winning 5-4 with other goals from Sean Bovington Scott Grimes and the late winner from Mark Langley.
In the all division 4 games Truncheon were holding The Sun Inn 3-2 but then collapsed to a 12-2 defeat with Paul Gaskell Michael Miah and Dean Walsh all scoring hat tricks and Stable Bar beat Fylde Coast Vets 7-2 with Chris Hastwell and Mark Sinnett netting twice.
Waterloo Pub put up a brave performance against Tower Lounge but went down 3-1 with Scott McCabe scoring twice. In another close game Blackpool Catholic Club lead No. 4 Rangers 3-1 at the interval with goals from Gavin Martin Wes Standaloft and Shaun Meehan but allowed No.4 to equalise before Stephen Bosner scored the winner.
In the Premier league leaders Quilligans had a 5-0 victory over Pulcinella`s. Ashiana went joint top of division 3 after the 8-0 defeat of Blue Room with pairs from Rory Davies and Thomas Johnson. Hansom Cab earned their fourth successive win in beating Old England 5-2 with Christopher Glynn getting a double.
