Mortgage Shop Blackpool & Fylde Sunday Alliance Report 25 April 2010
The three cup finals in the Mortgage Shop Blackpool & Fylde Sunday Alliance provided exciting games with two games going to extra time and penalties.
In the Premier Cup FC Eden took an early lead against Quilligans through Craig Byrom before Robbie Boal equalised with a spectacular overhead kick. Quilligans went ahead when Martin Baird scored but Ryan Bingham levelled to take the game to extra time and then penalties when man of the match Sean Slater converted his penalty to win the trophy for Quilligans.
After scoring first through Scott Park in the Second Division Cup Spindles went 3-1 down to Progress Sports and Social with 2 goals from Shaun Meehan and the other by Curt Smith. Scott Park grabbed his second goal for Spindles with ten minutes left and captain Danny Howard`s late header levelled the scores. Extra time was goalless and Spindles took the trophy when Progress missed their final penalty.
In the Division 3 Cup FC Edge came from behind to win 2-1 against Ashiana with goals from Mark Ford and Scott Gardner.
Leaders of the Premier league Poulton SFC had a fine 7-4 victory over Hydronics with a Darren Hall hat trick leading their scorers. A Graham Floyd double gave Blackpool Rangers a 2-1 win against Northern Care. The Dunes trounced Devonshire Arms 7-1 with Jamie Hughes Alan O`Loughlin and Wayne Gardiner all scoring pairs.
The Old Town Hall kept up their title challenge in division 1 after defeating Fleetwood Cricket Club 8-1 with trebles from Gary McEvatt and Steve Feeney.
West Coast Tackle went back to the top of division 2A after the 4-2 win over challengers Mythop Leisure with 2 first half goals from leading striker Rick Seear and other goals from Ben Holland and Mark Arnold. Manager Jon Almond praised the seven players who turned out for FC Talbot in the 14-0 defeat by Great Ecclseton.
Leaders of division 2B Highfield Social repeated last week`s 4-2 win over Mere Park with a Stuart Lord pair and Fraser Cook and Scott Waters scoring and Jacob Peake and Scott Grimes replying.
Lane Ends enjoyed a rare victory in division 3A in the 2-1 defeat of Berrys Beds with Nathan Shelliker getting both goals.
The two teams challenging for runners up in division 3B both won 6-1. Luke Noble netted 4 times for C & G Electical and Matthew Wannell bagged 5 goals for SPS who need 1 point from their last game to secure second place.
