|I was hoping to be in Lytham this morning watching the Division 2A league fixture between MA2 FC and the Squirrel FC at Ballam Road. However, a far too hasty postponement because of the 'alleged' frost meant a late change of venue to Commonedge Road. Here are a few pictures from many of the games that were played.|
In Division 2B Marshall Court Sandpiper FC failed to raise a side so opponents AFC Marton decided to get some much needed extra training in on Pitch 4
On Pitch 6 Metrostars FC (stripes) were away at the No4 Pub FC
Dave Shields (Right)
Matt Derby scores for the No4
Metrostars were playing well early in the game and in the above picture deservedly pulled one back. The player drew the keeper before playing it unselfishly for his mate to score. Although the ball went forward the scorer was behind him when he passed it. Onside.
The keeper disagreed with his own linesman and took it up with Mr Dyson
But not in a pleasant way so unsurprisingly the yellow card was out. Sack the photographer who missed the card.
Next door on Pitch 5 Hampton Road Social Club (White) were at home to second placed West Coast Tackle and were matching them in the first half. Ben 'Dennis the Menace' Wiseman books a Hampton player for an overenthusiastic challenge.
No problem capturing the card this time after the rehearsal
It was headed in according to most of the players, spectators and West Coast liner but Wiseman waved play on. It looks in to me.
The Hampton management team curse their luck and the official. You get no luck when you're struggling near the bottom of the table.
He's not bothered
Pitch 8 and the Farmers Arms FC (Red) were hosting FC Rangers.
Chairman Hough has a chat with referee Mike Mahoney. It's a dull 0-0 at the moment
Like all good keepers the FC Rangers is primed like a cat, agile and on his toes to pounce athletically for any sudden shot or cross.
A great chance for Smith but he fluffs it
Sigh…The FC Ranger's manager calls for some composure
Smith looks to make amends
………….and does so moments later as a cross came back off the bar and he nodded it home from a yard. 0-1
Keeper error – he should have tipped it over
Hot tea a necessity
Half time during the FC Talbot v Brun Grove game in 2A
FC Talbot in the stripes
“Anymore lip number 2 and that's where you'll be heading” Admonished by Mr Wolfenden
Half time for AFC Ansdell Excelsior who were hosting J&S Auto Body Repairs FC
Darren Meehan – the newly installed boss at AFC Ansdell
SPS FC (Blue) at home to FC Edge
Big lad Ben Fenton risesc highest at the far post to head home the corner into the far left top corner. Where's the marking?

Jordan Douthwaite crosses for Sean Slater to score within seconds of his introduction as substitute
