Mortgage Shop Blackpool & Fylde Sunday Alliance Report 08 November 2009

Only 3 of the 7 Lancashire Cup games due to be played by teams in the Mortgage Shop Blackpool & Fylde Sunday Alliance survived last weekends heavy rain.

In the top game of the round previous winners Quilligans met current holders Copper Pot FC from Rochdale on an excellent pitch at Collins Park. Danny Rowe gave Quilligans an early lead slotting the ball past the keeper after a solo run. At the half way stage of the first half Copper Pot collapsed and conceded 3 goals in 5 minutes. A Lee Broadbent cross was headed home by Steve Palmer to start the rout. Kevin Ford scored the second following a corner and finally a Danny Rowe free kick was headed in by Phil Thompson. Copper Pot started the second half much stronger and pulled 2 goals back in 5 minutes on the hour mark. With 10 minutes left Quilligans moved into the last 16 when a poor clearance from the goalkeeper landed at Lee Broadbent`s feet who then lobbed the return over the keeper from 40 yards to complete the 5-2 victory.
The game was well controlled by the experienced local referee Barry Cropp.

In the other 2 games FC Loco lost 4-1 to Station Hotel from Blackburn with Matthew Parr getting their consolation goal and Spindles were beaten 5-0 by Sacred Heart from Colne.

The twice postponed ties are now reversed next Sunday with Northern Care and AFC Additions having home games whilst Blackpool Rangers and Devonshire Arms are forced to travel to Bury and Bolton.

In the only League game played Skye and Fleetwood Kings shared the points in the
4-4 result in division 2A .Simon Clark and Christopher Morgan and a pair from Lee O`Neill were the Skye scorers while a double from Ashley Robinson and Tim Martin and Paul Parker replied for the visitors
