Tossing. Ref Kelvin Dyson, Assistants Lee Edwards and Ben Wiseman with Tiles skipper Mike Hewitt and Loft skipper Kev McGuirk. We began the match with Tiles kicking uphill towards the Pavilion.
The crowd gathers
Paul Myerscough (left) of The Loft
Ryan Postlethwaite with a typically meaty challenge on Loft skipper Kev McGuirk
Tiles keeper Richard Parkinson
I knew there was a reason Ben Wiseman elected to run the line on that side (both halves!)
Scramble in The Loft's box
Loft keeper Ryan Richards watches in despair as Postlethwaite's header bounces off the far post and across the line for 1-0 to Tiles
Emotion overcomes McGuirk
Postlethwaite added a second just before half time and Tiles went in 2-0 up
Chris Worden on as a second half sub for Tiles
Another good take from Richards
The Loft Ultras
Game over as Tiles add their third through James Butler (right)
You may have felt the tremors as Referee Kelvin Dyson hit the deck with a pulled hamstring
Not much sympathy from Hewitt or Melling though. “Get up you big fairy…”
'Iron Man' Dyson did just that and limped through the last few minutes.
A good jump
All over and 3-0 to Tiles. A creditable performance from The Loft who played some nice football at times but just didn't have enough in the locker to pose a serious threat to Tiles. Tiles deserved their win and played an organised game. Melling and Postlethwaite always looked lively on the ball. Played in excellent spirit and well officiated, I don't think Kelvin Dyson had to reach for his pocket once.
